As with all of our products, it's made from European 304 stainless steel, all mandrel bent in house using some of the best heavy industry machinery available.
The brief spec of the exhaust is.
3" OD (76mm) diameter pipe.
One silencer. Straight through design, made in house.
Twin slash cut tailpipes, slightly larger than OEM. Also made in house.
Tested to 450bhp with hybrid turbos. Will do more with a larger turbo.
We offer adapters to help with hooking up to most downpipes, but you will need to contact us for assistance with this. The exhaust comes with a 3" butt joint sleeve clamp, similar to the one which makes the OEM connection. If you're fitting it with one of our downpipes, it will be a direct fit using this clamp.
"What does it sound like?" Here it is, hooked up to the silenced version of our downpipe.
With a name like Trackslag, it would be easy to think that our exhausts were supplied with an ASBO certificate. This simply isn't the case. Our race/competition/Trackday pedigree stipulates that we conform to noise regs. Our aim is to provide just the right amount for noise, with a pleasing tone and none of the dreaded drone associated with a lot of aftermarket exhausts. Even though it's a one box system, often referred to as a non resonated system, we've had no reports of drone throughout testing and development. Whilst this isn't a loud exhaust, there's a silencer option with our downpipe which smooths the tone a little.
Does it Drone?
Hell No! The most common cause for drone is when people fit high flow downpipes and exhausts but don't have the software updated to account for the quicker spool of the turbo. The car can't control the boost when it arrives lower down in the rev range, so when cruising at part throttle, the ECU closes the throttle plate and opens the wastegate to stop the car running away with you. This is what causes the "Drone"
Another cause, can be when the gas speed stalls. This is is sometimes caused when fitting a high flow aftermarket catback to an OEM downpipe. A given amount of gas will travel faster in a smaller diameter pipe. If that gas suddenly goes into a much larger diameter pipe, there's a risk of it stalling and making a much deeper sound.
There are other scenarios but we'll leave it there!
We've tried to make this as non technical as possible, brushing the surface of the subject. But we hope that you get the idea.
